In one sentence
Vene is a Mac planner that decides when your workday ends. It fits your tasks around how much each one asks of your head, then draws a line at the end of the day and hands the evening back.
In one paragraph
Most planners treat an empty evening as space to fill. Vene works the other way. You keep a plain list, in Vene or in Apple Reminders. Vene guesses how long each task takes and how much thinking it needs, puts the heavy work in your best hours, and draws the end of the day in advance. Work that doesn’t fit moves to another day instead of into your evening. When the end passes, Vene tells you you’re done and goes quiet. Nothing turns red and there are no streaks. In the evening, time spent on a practice like reading, an instrument or a language grows a hand-drawn forest that only gets bigger. Everything stays on the Mac, with no account and no analytics.

What makes it different
- The day ends on purpose. Vene draws the end of the day in advance and plans nothing past it unless something is truly due.
- It reads the task, not only the clock. Each task gets a sense of how much it asks of your head, so demanding work lands in your best hours and similar work runs together.
- It explains itself. Every block carries a one-line reason.
- It never scolds. Vene reacts to what you did, never to what you didn’t. No red, no overdue, no streaks.
- Evenings grow something. Practice time grows a forest that never shrinks and never notices a missed day.
- Private by design. No account, and no server that receives your data.
Who made it
I’m Peiyang, a student. I use a Mac every day for school, notes, calendars and reminders, and every planner I tried treated an empty evening as room for more. The list never ran out, so I was never done. I started Vene in January 2026 to get a day that ends.
I built it with a lot of help from Claude Code. The idea, the design and what goes in are mine, and I use it every day. Most of my classmates use Google Calendar, so that’s next.
Quotes
“Every planner I tried treated my evening as room for more. I didn’t need to fit more in. I needed to know when I was allowed to stop.”
